Needle Painting, and the Practice of Mindfulness.

Hello dear friends.  In my last article, I focused on the concern of some of my students that the basic hand embroidery stitches are boring.  I always tell them that if they can move past the boring bit and practice the things that seem boring or ordinary , then they will eventually step into an extraordinary experience.   Well, in this article, I have decided to take you into one of these experiences, that of Needle Painting. What is Needle Painting?  Needle painting, often called "long and short stitch" or silk shading , is an ancient embroidery technique that uses fine threads and blended stitches to replicate the depth, shading, and detail of a traditional painting.
